Here’s what we have planned for our tripity-trip:

Day 1 (Sat 15 Aug) – ride to Medford.

Day 2 (Sun 16 Aug) – ride to Portland. See friends that night.

Day 3 (Mon 17 Aug) – arrive in Vancouver

Day 4 (Tues 18 Aug) – Travis departs to grandmas (3 days), Cooper and Ian explore. Josh meets up with Travis

Day 5 (Wed 19 Aug) – Explore / visit grandma

Day 6 (Thur 20 Aug) – Explore / visit grandma

Day 7 (Fri 21 Aug) – Meet up, go up to Whistler, explore

Day 8 (Sat 22 Aug) – Squamish to ferry, Nanaimo to Duncan, ferry to Salt Spring Island

Day 9 (Sun 23 Aug) – Spend the day on Salt Spring

Day 10 (Mon 24 Aug) – Go to Victoria, chill there, ferry over to Vancouver

Day 11 (Tues 25 Aug) – Hang day in VC

Day 12 (Wed 26 Aug) – Portland

Day 13 (Thr 27 Aug) – Medford

Day 14 (Fri 28 Aug) – Home sweet home

The first day is going to be hell. The entire Northern California strip is painfully monotonous and will most likely be blazing hot. But after that it’s all down hill!

It’s July 27th, 2009 — three weeks until we take off to Canada on our motorcycles. The trip will be roughly two weeks, leaving from San Jose on August 15th and arriving in Vancouver 2 days later. My travel companions are Cooper Falk and Travis Palser. Cooper’s riding up on a Yamaha V-Star Classic 650. Travis is riding a Suzuki GS500f, and I’ll be on my 06′ Triumph Scrambler.

I’ve decided to document our trip to Canada in detail. Why? Two months ago I was browsing through some old documents on my computer and I found a detailed write-up I made of a trip I made to Hawaii in early 2008. In it I listed every single thing we did throughout the entire trip, from the start of the day to when I went to sleep, complete with time, place and other details such as who I with. Reading through it I totally relived the entire trip and was reminded of a bunch of tidbits I had almost forgotten about; I was so happy I kept such a detailed account of the trip. So, I decided any trip I go on I will do the same thing so I can refer back to it and remember what I did when I’m old and wrinkly and my memory is fading. I’m also looking forward to sharing the experience with whoever else is interested.

And so it begins, my Canada travelogue, or, dare I, tlog.

I’m getting really excited about this trip. It’s been awhile since I’ve broken away from the day-to-day grind.
